We all know him. The enigmatic genius, the outcast, the captain of the technological marvel, the Nautilus<\/i>. A character Jules Verne introduced to the world in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea<\/i>. But do we truly know him?<\/p>\n
For decades, we were fed the story, one finally completed in its sequel, The Mysterious Island<\/i>\u2014that Nemo was an Indian Prince avenging himself upon the British. It is a powerful image. It is also a censored<\/i> one.<\/p>\n
We present „Where is Captain Nemo?”<\/b>\u2014an experimental rock opera that is more than just an album. It is an artistic investigation and a brutal reclamation of the truth that Verne’s publisher forced him to hide.<\/p>\n

He was a rebel, an insurgent, whose family was brutally murdered by the Russian Empire<\/b>.<\/p>\n
Verne\u2019s publisher, Pierre-Jules Hetzel, was terrified. France was seeking an alliance with Russia, and an openly anti-Russian novel would have been a diplomatic and commercial disaster. He forced Verne to erase this identity. Thus, the Polish avenger became the nameless „No One” (Latin: Nemo<\/i>), his vengeance stripped of its terrifyingly specific target. The only clue Verne managed to smuggle past the censors was a portrait of Tadeusz Ko\u015bciuszko<\/b> hanging in the Captain’s cabin.<\/p>\n
